This place does it right. From the outside you would never suspect how good this joint is. Despite an unhealthy obsession with roosters, this restaurant brings it. First off, they have an orange juice machine that is a thing of beauty. It takes oranges and turns then into liquid gold. I may be exaggerating just a little, but it is still freaking good. On top of the orange juice, they have a wonderful selection of classic breakfast and lunch fare. I am particularly partial to the skillets. Moreover, what sets this place apart from most solid breakfast or brunch joints is how much of their menu is made from scratch. You have to love a place that has house made sausages. You may be able to find trendier restaurant doing breakfast, but you'll be hard pressed to find a restaurant that is better than Early Bird. This review does not mean that I feel this restaurant is on the level of Marais. However, for what thus place does, it is nearly perfect.

You know a place is good if people wait in a line that's out the door to get in. That's the case at Early Bird Cafe and I will admit.....I've happily lined up to eat there many times. Their breakfast and lunch food is so fresh and delicious it will keep you coming back no matter what! It is a tiny building but there is a large sign you will see from the road. Just pull in and park behind the building. It's first come, fist serve - no reservations are accepted. If there is a line just wait until you get to the front, no need to put your name on a list or anything. They are open from 7am-3pm everyday excepts Sunday they open at 8am. Prices are extremely reasonable at Early Bird, everything on the menu is under $10. They always have unique breakfast specials and as I mentioned before - their food is delish! I recommend the breakfast skillets (they are HUGE), the fresh squeezed OJ and the sandwiches. Though Early Bird is small it is has a family atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The friendly vibe combined with the tasty food makes this place worth the wait!

I like a good breakfast place, and this is it! Good food, excellent service, spunky waitstaff who know their customers.

One of my favorite places for breakfast. A great place, excellent service and skillets for days. Worth the wait any day of the week.

Great place with cute decor of a million roosters. The food is always made fresh, with excellent prices. The waitstaff is also very down to earth and kind, and they always keep my coffee topped up! One of my favorite brunch spots in the area.

Just left the Early Bird, known locally as a breakfast gem on OLR in Keego, this simple yet pleasureful tasting experience is a must visit. Don't go on a weekend, or you'll make the line longer for me. The waitstaff are fast and friendly and the food is delivered fast. The breakfast skillets are a lot of food and well worth it, but my fav is the eggwhite Mediterranean scramble. Of course all the classics are made here, but the bacon is a crisp welcoming to pair with anything. I've been here for lunch as well, and if you haven't tried lunch, you are missing out. I'll be back.

I love this place, but mostly because of the terrific service and good prices. The food is good - I would even say above average - but the food at Ellen's down the street is better. You won't find better service than at Early Bird, though. One of the best breakfast/brunch places in metro Detroit, for sure!

Came here a few weeks ago, thought it was pretty good! I ordered a chorizo skillet and it was HUGE. I would definitely split it next time! Best part- it was pretty inexpensive. Parking was good and luckily there was not a wait. The best part was the gorgeous patio!! Friendly wait staff, good coffee. I'll definitely be back! Great neighborhood spot- a place where you will definitely bump into some old friends. (or in my case, my dentist!!!!).

Great local breakfast spot. Reasonable prices for a good amount of great food. The skillets are where it's at. Expect a slight wait on weekend mornings, but the staff is great about moving things along.

The biscuits! I go in for the biscuits! Nice little quaint Restruant with a menu that is sure to please. My favorite is one egg over medium well, toast and coffee. I also like their skillets with fresh diced potatoes. Overall it makes a good start for any morning. Friendly wait staff, great coffee. If you're the private, bashful type know that this Restruant is small and intimate so put on your happiest face and come out and enjoy a great breakfast, lunch or dinner. Early Bird Café your the best!

Went here today on a whim, there weren't any pictures of their food on yelp so I was slightly hesitant but the food far exceeded my expectations. I got the hobo skillet and I will say it was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time... And it came with home made biscuits. The place is charming and the staff is prompt and friendly. Not what you would expect from the location and curb appeal. Pleasantly surprised and full.

AMAZING! Corned beef and hash is unreal, so are their omelets and everything else Super cheap and nice people I had it yesterday morning and have been craving to go back since!

Wifey and I went for breakfast today after realizing I had the day off for MLK day. Super Special for $4.50 offered 2 eggs, 4 thick cut slices of bacon, hash browns and choice of toast. Hash browns were dry and bland, and I had to douse them in ketchup, while the rest was fine. Lots of food for a low price, and friendly, quick service. There was nothing particularly memorable about this meal.

I eat breakfast here at least twice a week for the last 2 years. The place is relatively small so be prepared to wait especially on Sundays. But people wait for a reason, great service and great food. The skillets and omelets are my favorites, but the menu has a lot more on it, the pancakes are awesome. And don't forget the fresh squeezed Orange juice, pricey, but very tasty! The prices are very reasonable if you compare them to other similar places

This cafe is really cute. People are friendly and there are daily specials on the chalkboard. There's a hometown feeling and i think everything is made fresh. Love to see that it was busy and customers had to wait for tables.

Dang I wish we had this place in Orange County. One of the best breakfast spots evah! My Nephew lives nearby and frequents a few times a week. Whenever I visit, one of the last things I utter through my wine breath before I stagger down to his basement guest bedroom: "what time are we going to that breakfast place in the morning?" Super small space, super packed, and super friendly service. And OMG, the freshest, hottest food you'll ever hope to enjoy on one of those "morning afters." This time I had the veggie skillet, hold the broccoli: hash-browns, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers with my requested over medium eggs draped on top. Damn it! So good! Went with the biscuit, and it was also fresh-out-of-the-oven hot. And I suspect, homemade. Damn it, Damn it, and Damn it! We need one in N. OC! Damn it!!

I like this place. It's relaxing, the staff is pleasant, the food is above average for a diner for sure. I would just ask that they spring for real half and half in one of those little serving things instead of the kind in the plastic. Parking is great too, easy to get in and out of.

Can be summed up in one word YUMMY!!!! I wish I could literally live here so that way I could wake-up every morning to the wonderful staff and the delicious coffee, and get breakfast made for Me every morning! OMG this place is phenomenal!!!! And I DON'T say this about ANY place, this place HAS earned it!

Been frequenting the Early Bird Café for 2 years now. Until today it has been a solo expedition usually on the way to work. I fell in love with their skillets. The Country Skillet being my favorite. I've been bragging on how good they are to my senior cousins and finally got them to come with me today. They being senior citizens are very hard to get them to leave their comfort zone and try something new. Well as usual I got my skillet. And they tried a omelet and potatoes for one and eggs sausage and potatoes for the other. The later the sausage was very over cooked and I am sure they would have replaced them cheerfully if she had asked. The rest of the food was wonderful as always. The only other problem was the others breakfast was not fully given a chance to find out if he liked it or not. The restaurant was as busy as it always is and there were people waiting to be seated. Well the third person in our group is a slow eater and has to take one bite at a time and takes maybe twice as long as the normal person. He had maybe 2/3 of his omelet ate and hadn't even started on his potatoes when the waitress just reached in front of him and said let me take that for you. Never asking if he was done or if he wanted it boxed up or anything. We were all too stunned to say anything. I have always loved the food but I will not be back for this rudeness and embarrassment they caused me. How can my family trust my opinion after this?

My honey and I went here for a Saturday brunch for the first time and it was great. The place was a bit crowded, so it took a minute to figure out the parking and then maybe 5 minutes to get someone to notice us and find us a table. We ordered coffee and it was a pretty good cuppa joe. I ordered the country skillet and my boyfriend got the supreme egg breakfast. The portions were great and it was very easy to tell that the food was freshly cooked. Our biscuits were warm and fluffy, and the portions were nice and big. It was very homemade. I noticed that my food wasn't seasoned, so I felt good about adding salt and pepper. Sometimes restaurants preload food with salt to make it taste better. My country skillet was just well prepared, wholesome food. The bottom of the skillet had sauteed peppers and onions, then a layer of perfectly cooked potatoes, sausage slices and melted cheese. I ordered my eggs scrambled, and they were spread on the top layer of the skillet. My boyfriend liked his meal also, and said everything seemed very homemade. I felt like we got a good value. The restaurant is a bit crowded, but it was so clean. There are ceramic chickens everywhere and I noticed that they were clean. A lot of times the bric a brac in a restaurant is covered in dust. I can't wait to go back and try something else from the menu.
